Be who you want to be, not what others expect of you;

Happy. Happier. Happiest?

17 August 2013
"What is the true & utmost honest meaning of being happy? Is happiness just a word that is yet difficult to be fulfilled and realised today? Some say that happiness is a vague feeling, which you can mutter out easily when you are in a state of experiencing joyfulness & contentment temporarily till nothing else seems to matter more; some say happiness is like a fragile bubble that can burst anytime whenever reality hits you; some say that happiness is solely defined as being able to be with your loved ones in this world & finally, some say that happiness is a feeling that you experience when you get your craving satisfied & fulfilled. So, what actually is happiness?"
 ------

In today's world, So many of us tend to lose ourselves along the way in search of luxurious materials due to the influence of the society. However, do we really want people to see us as the brand conscious person or someone who truly treasures and appreciates the art & workmanship of every piece of luxurious goods? The problem is, does it even matter anymore if you do not wear anything of branded on yourself? What is the first thing that crosses your mind when you see someone who dresses up in all things branded, & nothing non-branded on their body from top-to-toe? Do you think that "Whoa, this person is definitely loaded/rich/brand conscious!" or more importantly, my question is, do you see them as someone who is truly happy on the inside & out given that they are all dressed in these branded goods that anyone would ever dreamed of having?

I know that many of us out there, including myself I admit, tend to crave for branded goods when I see people having them & I don't. So, how is it possible that we ever overcome these cravings? Do we actually have to purchase those materials in order to feel happy or do we just move on with life & stop thinking about those things that is clearly out of our budget? Well, unfortunately, I would say, there is no definite solution to this. The only way to solve this problem is having your mindset sorted out straight & ensure that you have a strong willpower to refrain yourself from indulging in these clearly pretty-for-the-eyes-but-sore-for-your-purse kind of things :p However, for me, I believe that, craving for these branded good once in awhile (like once or probably twice in a year) is clearly acceptable, provided you are financially capable of doing so. Therefore, you have to realise & understand whether is it worth it to buy all the branded things in the world and own them all in order to taste happiness, or is it more important that you sort out your priorities right in this world that ensures you long-term happiness & at the same time, provides you the key to experiencing happiness with your loved ones? Take your pick. ;)
