Be who you want to be, not what others expect of you;

Cilantro for Gerrick's 20th

21 August 2014

A picture of the lovely signature rose red velvet cake from Baked in Chelsea that I've ordered for the birthday boy on his 20th (15/8/2014). It looks really pretty, isn't it? Haha, I know it's a little bit inappropriate to get this cake with "rose" petals on it for my brother, but after all, it just doesn't matter since the lady who baked the cake assured me that this is one of her signature cakes :D Also, if those of you who are reading this right now happened to be interested in ordering one of the BIC cakes for occasions or anything else in future, don't hesitate to check her account on Instagram. The username will be "bakedinchelsea" then. The necessary details could all be found on her Instagram page.

In my opinion, her cakes are definitely not your typical sort of cakes that you can easily get from any other bakeries in Malaysia. The ingredients that she uses could easily be of better and a more fine quality, hence, that explains the price of her cakes that are all fixed at RM200. Trust me, it's certainly worth the price for the quality of cake that you are getting for. However, I would say that this cake is only purchasable to those who lives in Selangor/KL as this lady who bakes these cakes don't offer any delivery services but only collection from her house itself.

Apart from that, as promised, I'm back again (I know). Heh. I find it easier now that I can always easily use my mobile to upload the pictures off my iPhone's camera roll straight away into an empty new post and then only proceed to the writing part using my laptop by using the "Blogger" app on my phone;) I have to admit, this has definitely made blogging much less of a hassle compared to those days when I used to blog. However, if the pictures' quality don't turned out that well, I apologise. After all, you can't expect such high resolution image from an iPhone 5.

Okay, so, I've made reservation for the six of us (my family) at Cilantro, KL, last Friday, just specially to celebrate Gerrick's 20th birthday. We were seated at the private dining room on that night, which was really nice given the fact that we could have the entire night of privacy to ourselves in the restaurant. Overall, my dining experience at Cilantro was a memorable and indeed a wonderful one. From the food to the service, everything was just exactly what we needed to spent the night for Gerrick's birthday. Cilantro is no doubt one of the best fine dining places that I've been to in KL so far. Haha, I hope that didn't sound too exaggerating for you guys. Compared to my previous dining experience at Marini's 57 with the family, that is totally incomparable to this. Well, partly because most of the dishes that we've tried on that night at Cilantro didn't fail to disappoint us, that's why it totally managed to satisfy everyone's appetite and expectations.

Just so you know, most of us opted for the 4-course menu at Cilantro that night, which was totally worth it! Alright, I'll now move on to the pictures of the food that I have on my camera roll for that night. Hope it doesn't make you guys salivate too :p

A complimentary appetiser that we were served for before other dishes came.

This was half a dozen's of fresh oysters on that night from the one dozen's that we've ordered. Oysters definitely tasted great as they were really fresh.

Scallops. This was my dad's first appetiser. (Y)

Cold Angel Hair with Sea Urchin and Sweet Prawn. This was my first appetiser. And I loved it<3 Wouldn't mind going back again just for this!

Tourte of Unagi and Foie Gras with Mesclun. This was my second appetiser. I know it looks just simply normal like a sort of puff or something, but trust me, when you cut it up and start tasting it, it's totally mind blowing. HAHA

It looks a bit messy here, but yes, there's a layer of vegetables in this puff which is wrapping the inner part of it that consisted of the unagi as well as foie gras. AHH, so good!

Risotto of Tarabagani with Saffron. There's the king crab meat on top of the risotto. This was mum's second appetiser. This was what the waiter who served us recommended to us as well. According to him, it's one of the bests too apart from the angel hair as the appetiser.

The birthday boy's Baked Abalone with Seaweed.

My mains: Grilled Blackmore Wagyu with Café de Paris. Hmm, for this, I actually preferred dad's choice of main course from the seasonal menu, which was the Angus Steak instead. Somehow, I didn't really fancy the idea of the slightly salty taste of the sauce. However, all of our main courses were served with sides such as baked cheese potatoes and your selection of vegetables.

My choice of dessert. As soon as I saw the word "Green Tea" on the dessert menu, I immediately selected it. I present you the Green Tea Bavarois with Kuromame. Thank God I've ordered this instead of anything else, I was basically at the edge or almost beyond my quota  by the time it was for dessert.

Siblings picture! <3

Another siblings' group picture. Many say each and everyone of us have our own distinctive looks, that means we don't really look like one another, yes or no? Hah.

A totally irrelevant picture, haha. A selfie of the three of us whilst stuck in the jam, on the way to Cilantro.

I present you my little sister, Klara.

So blur, but I can't resist from uploading this. My sister is way too cute:p

"Smile like no one's watching..."

& finally, a decent picture of myself.

The birthday boy & I on that night, with his oh-so-pretty cake. Yes, we are not looking at the camera, & we know that. haha.

Overall, I would rate my dinner experience at Cilantro 10 out of 10. If you're someone who's looking for a place with a nice ambience for dinner along with great food and excellent service, do consider this restaurant as one of your choices. I will definitely visit this place again in the near future with my beloved puggy when he's back again from the states, heh.

For now, that's all, and I hope this blog post has been a useful one for most of you.
