Be who you want to be, not what others expect of you;

Some experiences are meant to change you..

15 December 2016
Day 9 * 23rd May up to Final day of programme * 27th May 2016

On the 9th day of the programme, we had our morning lectures as usual and the school had arranged for us to have our packed lunch in the classroom before departing for our final tour, which was to the Summer Palace. Coincidentally, Yan Hong's Law building was just next to the Economics building that I was located at. Therefore, we decided to meet up again over the lunch break one final time before I leave Beijing.. Shortly after, my course mates and I left with the bus to head to the Summer Palace.

However, our tour around the Summer Palace was actually shortened due to the slight rain and heavy wind weather that we were unfortunate enough to experience on that day. Therefore, our tour guide, Mr Kong, didn't have a choice but to cancel the idea of having us to take the boat ride to cross the river in visiting the other side of the Summer Palace area that we did not cover. Some students were happy about that because they were basically sick of the whole touring thing already; however, I on the other hand was a bit upset and disappointed with the weather :( I am one who really appreciates sightseeing and especially Chinese historical monuments etc if you don't already know this about me. Anyways, I will let most of the pictures do the talking...

But before that, I'll go on with the writings regarding the activities we had for the 10th day and 11th, up until the last day of the programme. Basically, on our 10th day and 11th day, we had our usual morning lectures covering different topics, and then lunch provided by the school again before we headed off to attend company visits. Nothing different happened on those two days itself because everyone of us had group presentations' discussions to carry out each day before our official presentation on the final day of the programme. Therefore, all of us pretty much just wanted to quicken up those discussions and not delay it any longer as most of us just wanted to have more free time to do our own things like exploring the city and eating etc.

That's why, on our final day of the programme, all of us basically had to suit up again for the official team presentation.. The presentation was the task that everyone had to go through in order to receive the completion certificate for the summer school course. Therefore, we had no choice but to go through with the whole presentation thingy.. Well, at least it was better than having the need to take any summer school exams, heh.

Okay, enough words for now.. It's time for the pictures to do the talking.

That's all about my summer school experience at Beijing with Tsinghua University so far. I'm glad to say that I have enjoyed every moment of it.. If I have a choice, I would go through it again and probably request for a longer extension of the programme. I really felt like it was a blessing in disguise, without knowing where the choice of my decisions would lead me to; the people that I met and knew along the way have made me realised so many things that I did not know of previously.. I am fortunate enough to say that this experience would certainly serve as a memorable one and something that I would always treasure well. Glad that I went ahead with Tsinghua University instead of the Fashion Management course at HEC Paris, even though HEC's summer school programme was always my first and top choice in the beginning. As far as I know, I did not have any regrets and in fact, I enjoyed every moment of my time at Beijing with the people that I have gone with. A word of advice: "Follow your heart and do not fear the choices that you make, even if it's something that you are going alone at first.. You will never know what's there for you once you go through it."
