Be who you want to be, not what others expect of you;

Unforgettable dining experience at Waku Ghin

22 August 2014

Photo credits to Gerrick. Taken outside our hotel room before headed to our dinner place.

My outfit for that day consisted of:

Jeans | Stylenanda
Top | Topshop
Sandals | Jil Sander
Bag | Chanel Boy :p

Forgive me for looking rather plain and simple, it was just a short trip therefore I honestly did not think of bringing many variety of clothes, let alone a more formal attire for our dinner at Waku Ghin since it was a very last minute booking.

_________

Last weekend, I went down to Singapore with my family for a 3D2N short trip. The trip was mainly to meet some of dad's friends for a get-together, at the same time, served as a means of relaxing through some therapeutic shopping and eating among ourselves. In short, it was a rather short and sweet trip to me, I wouldn't mind going down to Singapore again for another spontaneous trip, heh.

The highlight of our entire trip at Singapore this time was our impeccable and most memorable dining experience on the last night at Marina Bay Sands Hotel. The name of the restaurant is known as Tetsuya, Waku Ghin. If I'm not wrong, according to the information that I've gathered from Google itself, this restaurant is voted as No. 7 in the Top 50 Restaurants in the world. Also, to dine at this restaurant, it usually requires few months booking ahead. Fortunately, we managed to secure a room all to ourselves, for the six of us, at the restaurant just a day before our dine-in. *grins

So, it's sort of a standard procedure for each and everyone who dines in the restaurant to opt for the 10-course menu, with every single dish specially prepared by your personal chef. And trust me, their portion of food may all seemed to look small, but please don't underestimate the size of it, you will be amazed at the fact that by the time your 5th course is served, you are close to full already. Well at least, that's what happened to me, not sure whether the same would be applied to you guys as well, heh. Alright, it's about time that I let the pictures WOW you guys, ENJOY!

I present you, Waku Ghin.

A really bad picture that I took of the entrance of the restaurant. My bad. Because there was just too little space for me to move backwards in order to take this picture due to the hand railing.

Our private room specially catered for the six of us on that night.

The chef that came in to explain about the seafood that we would be having. This is like heaven!

Our first course on that night along with a glass of Billecart-Salmon Rosé champagne.

A closer-up of the French Gillardeau Oyster with Ginger and Rice Vinegar. This was pure bliss. Never had such a big and delicious oyster before in my life!

This was my favourite! Our second course: Marinated Botan Shrimp with Sea Urchin and Oscietra Caviar. We were required to eat this dish with the pearl spoon at the side.

Our third course: Grilled Anago with Foie Gras, Confit of Zucchini and Sanshou. Oh-so-yummmyy~~

Our fourth course: Roasted Scampi with Ceylon Tea. Totally mind-blowing. HAHA

This was our fifth course. They are fresh abalones with their shells taken our by the chef.

Our chef removed the shells off the abalones before he begin the cooking process.

He's preparing the sauce for us while cooking the abalone.

Preparing the sides for the dish before serving to us.

I present you, Tasmanian Abalone with Fregola and Tomato. I could have this everyday.

Fresh Canadian Lobsters before preparation.

All six dishes are ready to be served!

I present you, our sixth course: Braised Canadian Lobster with Tarragon.

I'm sorry, just can't help but to upload another closer picture of the lobster itself :p

Our chef preparing our seventh course.

Our seventh course: Ohmi Wagyu from Shiga Prefecture with Wasabi and Citrus Soy.

This was the Citrus Soy sauce that we had to pour on our beef before eating it.

OHMY. I think I just salivated again. Honestly, the wasabi really went perfectly well with the wagyu beef! And to my surprise, the wasabi doesn't taste the same as the usual ones that you normally have in Japanese restaurants.. I say this it's because the wasabi doesn't make you tear no matter how much you spread it on the beef! SIMPLY AMAZING~~

Our eighth course: Somen with Moyga and Junsai.

This was actually also part of another eighth course because when we were asked about our preference on whether to take noodles or rice, or even both, my sister immediately answered BOTH for all of us. HAH, that explains the extra Consommé with Rice and Snapper! I really loved this rice dish so muchhhh, wouldn't mind having this everyday for dinner in the UK. ;p

Our chef preparing tea for us all before we proceed to another section of the restaurant for our dessert!

This is a Gyokuro tea. It's a very strong flavoured type of green tea.

One of the complimentary dessert before our main dessert: Blueberry Cheesecake. The texture of the blueberry and you can see here is like in shaved ice form. I believe that it's a sort of nitrogen blueberry ice-cream that has made into powder form. Same goes to the cheesecake, it's prepared in an ice-cream form.

Our next dessert was this Chocolate Mousse with Vanilla and Macadamia. The outer layer of the chocolate was so smooth till you could even see a bit of reflection of light from it!

My peppermint tea to ease digestion:)

The babysister and I <3

& finally, our Petit Fours that consisted of five different sort of petite-sized desserts. DELICIOUS. But to be honest, I was really full and usually, I won't refuse any desserts. However, that night, I could only manage another one or two more petite desserts :O

Our menu specially printed for each and everyone of us after our meal that night.

_________

To sum it up, my family and I had a wonderful dining experience that night at Waku Ghin. We honestly wouldn't mind going back again for a second time to try a different course meal in the near future. Hehe. You definitely get everything as you're expecting through the price that you're paying for;)

Here's what I think overall for my dining experience at Waku Ghin:

Food: 5/5
Price: $$$$$
Ambience: 5/5
Customer Service: 5/5
